Project Information:

AA2026E_LunnL_S1 is a plantation forestry project located approximately 30km south of Burnie, near the locality of Hampshire in North-West Tasmania. It was registered in May 2026 and covers 56.17ha.

Plantation forestry projects involve generating carbon credits by establishing, maintaining, or modifying plantation forests. Under standard requirements, these projects mandate planting trees at a specific stocking density to ensure a continuous forest canopy is achieved and maintained for the eventual commercial harvesting of wood products.

The inland North-West Tasmanian region is well known for extensive commercial timber operations alongside dairy and beef cattle grazing. The area experiences a cool temperate climate classified as high rainfall, and the soils are generally highly productive, red basaltic clays (ferrosols).

This project sequesters carbon by establishing and maintaining a new plantation forest for the commercial harvesting of wood products. The initiative is managed by SFM Environmental Solutions acting on behalf of the Tasmanian Carbon Afforestation Sub-Trust. It forms part of the ActivAcre program, which is designed to integrate sustainable commercial tree plantings into local Tasmanian farmland.
