'Gladlea Soil Carbon Project

Gladlea Soil Carbon Project is a soil carbon project located at Marrar, approximately 37km north of Wagga Wagga in the Riverina region of NSW. It was registered on 28 July 2026 and its total area size is currently unknown.

Soil carbon projects under the Measurement and Models methodology involve changing land management practices to increase the amount of carbon stored in the agricultural soil. The standard requirements for this methodology involve measuring baseline soil carbon levels and using subsequent sampling or modelling to calculate the carbon sequestered as a result of these new practices.

The Marrar area is widely recognised for mixed farming enterprises, particularly wheat and canola cropping alongside sheep grazing. The region is considered a medium rainfall zone averaging around 500mm annually, and local soils are characteristically Red and Brown Chromosols.

This project increases carbon in the soil by introducing legume species into the property's cropping or pasture systems. The Fox family, who are the proponents of the project, have farmed at Gladlea for multiple generations, historically running mixed operations including Merino crossbreed sheep and varied grain crops. Carbon Link Operations Pty Ltd is also listed as a participant to assist with the technical delivery and administration of the carbon methodology.
