Project Information:

SCOOF2026R_StrathayreP_S1 is a plantation forestry project located at "Strathayre", a property roughly 12km southeast of Macarthur in Victoria's Western District. It was registered in May 2026 and covers 274.66ha.

Plantation forestry projects involve establishing and maintaining new plantation forests. Under the 2022 methodology, these projects sequester carbon as the trees grow while allowing for the commercial harvesting of wood products, provided they meet long-term carbon abatement modelling requirements.

The Macarthur and broader Western District region is well known for productive agriculture, particularly prime lamb, beef, and wool operations. The area benefits from a reliable moderate-to-high average annual rainfall of approximately 744mm, and the soils are typically fertile, well-drained, and largely derived from volcanic basalt.

This project was established after the 278ha Strathayre property was purchased for $4.65 million in mid-2026 by a natural capital group specifically for carbon and forestry initiatives. The project is supported by participant SFM Agribusiness Pty Ltd, a major natural asset management firm that manages over 50,000 hectares of plantation and forestry assets across Australia.
