Windy Ridge Carbon Project 1

Project Information:
Windy Ridge Carbon Project 1 is a soil carbon project located on the Yorke Peninsula, approximately 15km northwest of Ardrossan in South Australia. It was registered on June 16, 2026, and covers an area of 288.28 hectares.
The project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative, Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models) Methodology Determination 2021. Soil carbon projects under this methodology involve implementing eligible, materially new management activities to increase the amount of carbon stored in the soil, which is then strictly tracked through regular measuring and modelling over time.
The Yorke Peninsula region is predominantly known for broadacre dryland farming, typically consisting of cropping (such as wheat, barley, and canola) and sheep grazing. The environment experiences a Mediterranean climate with semi-arid to temperate, winter-dominant rainfall. The local soils are typically characterised as calcareous sandy loams, red-brown earths, and clay loams.
This project specifically focuses on increasing soil carbon in the agricultural system by applying nutrients to the land in the form of a synthetic or non-synthetic fertiliser. By addressing a material deficiency in the soil, the agricultural system is stimulated to produce more plant biomass, which in turn draws down more atmospheric carbon and stores it underground. The project is managed by Agriprove Solutions Pty Ltd, one of Australia's largest developers specializing in soil carbon sequestration projects.
