'Left Arm Planting Project

Project Information:

Left Arm Planting Project is an environmental planting project located at Nangus, approximately 24km west of Gundagai in the Riverina region of NSW. It was registered in September 2025 and initially covered an area of approximately 15ha, although a variation in July 2026 removed some areas originally listed in the project.

Environmental planting projects involve planting native trees at a density of at least 200 stems per ha to establish permanent forest cover. This project focuses on establishing and maintaining permanent plantings of a mix of native tree and shrub species that are local to the area. The species mix reflects the structure and composition of the local native vegetation community.

The Gundagai and Riverina region is well known for sheep and cattle grazing, as well as agricultural cropping. The area receives moderate rainfall, and the local soils generally consist of sandy loams, clays, and red earths.

Interestingly, the proponent, POLLACK AG PTY LTD, received a $96,642 Living Carbon grant from the NSW Government to co-fund this initiative. Furthermore, the project maintains an Environmental Account with Accounting for Nature (ID: AU00117) to track the condition and change in the native vegetation to support ongoing land management.
