'Moya Farm Carbon Project 6

Moya Farm Carbon Project 6 is a soil carbon project located approximately 20km west of Waikerie in the Riverland and Murray Mallee region of South Australia. It was registered in July 2026 and covers an unknown area.

Soil carbon projects under the Measurement and Models methodology involve baselining current soil carbon levels and implementing new or materially different agricultural management practices to increase soil organic carbon. The sequestered carbon is then verified over time through direct soil sampling and modelling.

The Waikerie and wider Mallee area is known for sheep grazing, dryland cropping, and irrigated horticulture along the nearby Murray River. The region is characterised by a semi-arid, low-rainfall climate, and the soils are generally calcareous sandy loams and sands over clay.

This project aims to increase carbon in the soil by altering the stocking rate, duration, or intensity of grazing to promote soil vegetation cover and improve overall soil health. It also involves applying synthetic or non-synthetic fertilisers to the land to address material soil deficiencies. Interestingly, this project is part of a larger staged rollout by the developer, Agriprove. Public registry data reveals that this is one of at least nine distinct, identically named projects (Moya Farm Carbon Projects 1 through 9) registered simultaneously in South Australia.
