'Moya Farm Carbon Project 4

Moya Farm Carbon Project 4 is a soil carbon project located in the Riverland region of South Australia, approximately 16km northeast of Blanchetown and 23km southwest of Waikerie. It was registered in July 2026, though the exact project area size is currently unknown.

Soil carbon projects under the Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models methodology involve undertaking eligible new or materially different management activities to build soil organic carbon. These projects require rigorous baseline testing and subsequent physical measurements or modelling to verify carbon sequestration over time.

The region around Blanchetown and Waikerie is generally known for dryland sheep grazing, broadacre cropping, and river-adjacent horticulture (such as citrus and vineyards). The area is considered semi-arid with low annual rainfall, and soils are generally sandy loams and calcareous earths common to the Murray Basin.

This project increases carbon in the soil by altering the stocking rate, duration, or intensity of grazing to promote soil vegetation cover and improve overall soil health.
