'Moya Farm Carbon Project 3

Moya Farm Carbon Project 3 is an agricultural soil carbon project located approximately 16km northeast of Blanchetown in the Riverland region of South Australia. It was registered in July 2026 and covers an unknown area.

Soil carbon projects (using measurement and models) involve changing agricultural management practices to increase the amount of carbon stored in the soil. Standard requirements include undertaking new or materially different eligible management activities and proving carbon sequestration through rigorous baseline soil sampling and subsequent tracking models.

The Blanchetown and wider Riverland area is known for pastoral grazing and dryland cropping, alongside irrigated agriculture closer to the Murray River. The area is considered semi-arid with typical low rainfall (around 250-300mm annually), and soils are generally sandy loams and calcareous Mallee soils.

This project was set up to increase carbon in the soil and improve overall soil health by altering the stocking rate, duration, or intensity of grazing to promote vegetation cover. It also involves applying nutrients to the land in the form of synthetic or non-synthetic fertiliser to address material soil deficiencies.

Interestingly, this project operates as part of a significantly scaled cluster managed by proponent Agriprove Solutions Pty Ltd. Public registry data reveals that it was registered concurrently with at least eight other identically named phases (Moya Farm Carbon Projects 1 through 9) in South Australia to maximize carbon farming outcomes across the property.
