'Fresh Earth Agriculture - Talbingo Reforestation Project

Fresh Earth Agriculture - Talbingo Reforestation Project is an environmental planting project located near Watsons Creek and Bendemeer, approximately 40km northeast of Tamworth in New South Wales. It was registered in July 2026, and while the exact project area is currently unknown, it operates within a region historically dedicated to sheep and beef cattle grazing, as well as some forestry.

Environmental planting projects under this methodology involve establishing permanent plantings of native trees and shrubs to provide forest cover, which typically requires planting at a density of at least 200 stems per hectare.

The Northern Tablelands and Tamworth region is known for moderate to high rainfall. The local environment consists of undulating terrain with soils that are generally a mix of basalt, trap soil, and granite-derived sandy loams.

This project was established by Talben Pty Ltd (as trustee for the Talbingo Trust) and operates under the broader Fresh Earth Agriculture portfolio, which runs similar reforestation efforts in the Watsons Creek area. The project specifically focuses on establishing permanent plantings using a mix of native tree and shrub species that are endemic to the area, ensuring the species mix accurately reflects the structure and composition of the local native vegetation community.
