'APAC Cloverdale

APAC Cloverdale is a soil carbon project located approximately 15-20km southeast of Chinchilla in the Western Downs region of Queensland. It was registered in July 2026 and covers an area of 1,610.17 ha.

Soil carbon projects (run under the Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models methodology) involve changing land and agricultural management practices to increase the amount of carbon stored in the soil. Standard requirements include measuring baseline soil carbon levels and undertaking new or materially different eligible management activities to build soil carbon stocks.

The Chinchilla area is widely known for agriculture, including commercial beef cattle grazing, dairy, and crop farming, as well as being a major regional hub for energy and gas operations. The region experiences a subtropical climate with summer-dominant rainfall averaging around 640-650mm annually. Soils in the surrounding area are generally characterized as self-mulching clays and Vertosols.

This project increases carbon in the soil within the agricultural system by applying nutrients to the land in the form of a synthetic or non-synthetic fertiliser to address a material deficiency. The proponent, APAC Natural Capital Pty Ltd, is a company established in May 2022 that provides carbon project development and portfolio management services. They hold an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) which allows them to offer carbon-related financial advice and trading for corporates and agricultural organizations.
