Gossanbar Soil Carbon Project is a soil carbon project located at the Gossanbar property, approximately 17km from the township of Barraba in the North West Slopes region of New South Wales. It was registered in July 2026 and covers an unknown area.

Soil carbon projects utilizing the "Measurement and Models" methodology involve implementing new agricultural land management practices to increase the storage of carbon in agricultural soils. Project proponents must establish a carbon baseline using physical soil core samples, with ongoing abatement estimated using a combination of subsequent sampling and validated spatial modelling. The specific activities implemented for this project include addressing material soil deficiencies by applying synthetic or non-synthetic fertilizers, introducing legume species into the pasture or cropping systems, and re-establishing or rejuvenating the pasture through seeding or pasture cropping.

The Barraba area is well known for its beef and cattle farming operations, alongside other mixed agriculture. The environment in the North West Slopes region typically experiences moderate annual rainfall, with the nearby Barraba station recording an historical average of around 687mm annually. Regional soils are frequently made up of Chromosols (red-brown earths), Dermosols, and Vertosols (cracking clays), which are common across the grazing slopes and plains of New South Wales.

This project was established by local proponents Steven and Alison Gadd, who operate the Gossanbar cattle property. The project is supported by the project agent Carbon Link Operations Pty Ltd, an established Australian carbon project aggregator and environmental services company that specializes in precision spatial modelling, remote sensing, and end-to-end soil carbon farming management.
