Project Information:

AA2026R_FulhamL_S1S2 is a plantation forestry project located near Dunalley, approximately 56km east of Hobart on the south-east coast of Tasmania. It was registered in June 2026 and covers 95.87ha.

Plantation forestry projects involve establishing new plantation forests, converting short-rotation to long-rotation plantations, or maintaining plantations that would otherwise be cleared. This project involves establishing and maintaining a new plantation forest for the commercial harvesting of wood products.

The Dunalley region is known for coastal settlements, sheep and cattle grazing, and forestry operations. The area experiences moderate coastal rainfall, typically receiving between 600mm and 800mm annually. Soils across this landscape are diverse, generally consisting of rocky dolerite hills, sandy plains, and heavy or dispersive sodic clays.

This project is tied to the historic Fulham property, a 3,000-acre grazing farm that was severely impacted by the devastating 2013 Dunalley bushfires. Since the fires, local landowners have focused on strategic reforestation to combat soil erosion and provide wind shelter for livestock. The project is managed by SFM Environmental Solutions, a natural asset management company that partners with local landholders to transform underutilised farmland into reliable revenue streams, integrating carbon sequestration with commercial timber production.
