Solara Environmental Planting

Project Information:

Solara Environmental Planting is an environmental planting project located near the town of Omeo in the East Gippsland region of Victoria, approximately 400km northeast of Melbourne within the Great Dividing Range. It was registered in April 2026 and covers an area of 610.86 hectares.

Environmental planting projects under the 2024 methodology involve establishing and maintaining permanent, mixed-species native forests. These projects require planting tree and shrub species that are native to the local area, typically at a stocking density sufficient to achieve a forest crown cover of at least 20% and a height of two meters or more.

The East Gippsland region and its alpine valleys are known for vast areas of public state forest, alongside agricultural land predominantly used for broadacre livestock grazing, such as cattle and sheep. The region experiences a cool temperate climate with moderate to high rainfall. Soils in these highland environments are typically of granitic origin, featuring strongly acidic sandy loam to sandy clay loam profiles.

This project establishes permanent plantings of a mix of native tree and shrub species that are local to the area, carefully selected to reflect the structure and composition of the local native vegetation community. The project proponent is DJM Investments (Vic) Pty Ltd, acting as Trustee for the DJM Investment Trust. The project is additionally supported by Nikki Cronyn, the Portfolio & Regulatory Compliance Manager at Covalent Land Australia, a carbon project developer that assists with operations and regulatory compliance for the site.
