Fresh Earth Agriculture - Glenclair Soil Carbon Project is an agriculture soil carbon project located at the Watsons Creek locality, approximately 15km north of Bendemeer and 50km northeast of Tamworth in the New England region of New South Wales. It was registered in July 2026. While the specific project area size is unknown, the host property, known as the Glenclair Aggregation, spans approximately 3,618 hectares.
The New England region is historically known for extensive agricultural enterprises, specifically focusing on cattle and sheep breeding. The local environment features a temperate climate with a summer-dominant rainfall pattern, averaging 700mm to 800mm of rain annually. Soils in the area are typically granite-based or trap soils characteristic of the broader Bendemeer granite belt.
This project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative, Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models) Methodology Determination 2021. Soil carbon projects under this method involve estimating carbon sequestration by establishing a baseline through direct physical sampling, and then measuring and modeling changes in soil carbon over time as new land management activities are applied. To achieve these gains, the Glenclair Soil Carbon Project is implementing several practices: applying synthetic or non-synthetic fertilisers and ameliorants like lime to address soil deficiencies and acidity; rejuvenating pasture by seeding and incorporating legume species; and altering the stocking rate, duration, and intensity of grazing to improve soil health and promote vegetation cover.
Interestingly, the proponent, Glenclair Aggregation Pty Ltd, also runs a supplementary reforestation project on the exact same property (Fresh Earth Agriculture - Glenclair Reforestation Project, ERF205333). Registered in October 2025, that parallel environmental planting project involves establishing permanent plantings of native trees and shrubs to replicate local native vegetation communities. This highlights a comprehensive and multi-method approach to land management, blending agricultural soil carbon sequestration with the restoration of native biodiversity.
