Landari Falmouth 2025

Project Information:

Landari Falmouth 2025 is a plantation forestry project located near the coastal town of Falmouth on the east coast of Tasmania, approximately 55 miles east of Launceston. It was registered in March 2026 and covers a project area of 206.73 hectares.

The Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative-Plantation Forestry) Methodology Determination 2022 allows projects to earn carbon credits by transitioning an existing commercial plantation forest into a permanent planting. This method is applied in situations where a short-rotation plantation is at risk of being clear-felled and the land converted to a non-forested state, such as for agricultural use. Standard requirements ensure that by keeping the trees permanently in the ground, the project sequesters carbon long-term rather than releasing it through harvesting and land clearing.

The Falmouth region and the broader east coast of Tasmania are known for a mix of forestry operations, dryland grazing for sheep and wool, and discrete areas of intensive agriculture. The local environment experiences moderate coastal rainfall, averaging around 715mm to 767mm annually. Soils in the region vary but typically consist of sandy clay loams, chromosols, and kurosols featuring a sand-over-clay profile, which are common across eastern and southern Tasmania.

The project is managed by Landari Pty Ltd, a project developer that specializes in carbon and biodiversity offsets through permanent vegetation, operating multiple land sector projects across Australia.
