Cultura Australia Plantation Project No. 3

Cultura Australia Plantation Project No. 3 is a plantation forestry project located across the South West region of Western Australia, with land parcels situated near regional timber towns including Bridgetown, Donnybrook, and Manjimup. It was registered in February 2026 and covers 1,274.54ha. A series of project variations in April, June, and August of 2026 saw additional areas added to the total project footprint.

Plantation forestry projects generate carbon credits by establishing new plantations, extending harvest rotation lengths, or maintaining existing estates. This specific project sequesters carbon by establishing and maintaining a new plantation forest for the commercial harvesting of wood products. To meet methodology requirements, this typically involves cultivating softwood species such as Pinus radiata at strict commercial stocking densities to ensure the long-term production of long-lived wood products like sawlogs, pulp, and fence posts.

The South West region of Western Australia is heavily known for its timber industry, commercial plantations, native forest management, and grazing agriculture. The local environment features a Mediterranean climate and is considered a high-rainfall zone, generally receiving over 800mm of precipitation annually. Soils across these sites are typically well-drained lateritic gravels and karri loams, which are highly conducive to rapid tree growth and large-scale forestry operations.

Interestingly, the project proponent, Cultura Australia Pty Ltd, works in collaboration with Delta Forestry, who manage the local forestry operations. Cultura Australia has also been identified as a recipient of funding under the Australian Government's "Support Plantation Establishment" program, an initiative aimed at expanding Australia's softwood estate to combat future timber and housing frame shortages alongside achieving carbon sequestration goals.
