Landari Tasmanian Aggregation 2025

Project Information:

Landari Tasmanian Aggregation 2025 is a plantation forestry project located in the Meander Valley region of Tasmania, approximately 50km southwest of Launceston. It was registered in February 2026 and covers 80.51 hectares.

Plantation forestry projects generate carbon credits by establishing new plantation forests, converting short-rotation plantations to long-rotation, or maintaining existing plantations to prevent their conversion to non-forested land. Standard requirements under the 2022 Methodology dictate that the forest must be planted and managed at appropriate stocking densities to remain commercially viable for the eventual harvesting of wood products.

The Meander Valley and its surrounding areas are highly utilised for a diverse mix of agricultural practices, including sheep and cattle grazing, high-value cropping, and commercial forestry. The region features a high-rainfall climate, with average annual rainfall ranging from 800mm to over 1,000mm depending on the elevation and proximity to the Great Western Tiers. The local soils vary significantly, commonly encompassing yellow podzolic soils overlaying sandstones and mudstones, as well as highly fertile basalts.

This project sequesters carbon by establishing and maintaining a new plantation forest for commercial harvesting, explicitly avoiding the conversion of an existing or recently harvested plantation area into non-forested land. Interestingly, the proponent behind the project, Landari Pty Ltd, is a specialist forestry and biodiversity carbon developer managed by experienced foresters. They are notably recognized as an associate member of the Australian Forest Products Association, highlighting their deep, active involvement in the commercial forestry sector alongside their focus on permanent vegetation carbon offset projects.
