Toweran Park Carbon Project 3
ERF206890
Project Information:
Toweran Park Carbon Project 3 is a soil carbon sequestration project located in the locality of Toweran, near Lowmead, approximately 70km northwest of Bundaberg in Queensland. Registered in December 2025, the project covers a land area of roughly 534 hectares. The property, "Toweran Park," is an established grazing operation that has previously hosted industry field days focused on pasture and timber management, highlighting a long-standing commitment to sustainable land practices.
The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon methodology, which credits landholders for measured increases in Soil Organic Carbon (SOC). To achieve this, the project proponent, Agriprove Solutions, is implementing activities that include altering the stocking rate and intensity of cattle grazing to improve ground cover, as well as introducing legume species into the pasture systems. Legumes are particularly effective in this context as they fix atmospheric nitrogen, which can boost plant growth and subsequently increase the organic matter returned to the soil.
The region is characterized by a sub-tropical climate with a relatively high average annual rainfall of approximately 1,000mm, which creates favorable conditions for rapid biomass generation and soil carbon accumulation. The local landscape typically features granite-derived soils and texture-contrast soils (Chromosols), which are common in the Miriam Vale and Lowmead districts. These soil types generally respond well to improved management practices that prevent overgrazing and maintain vegetative cover.
