Landari Diddleum 2025

Project Information:
Landari Diddleum 2025 is a plantation forestry project located in the Diddleum Plains region of North East Tasmania, approximately 35km northeast of Launceston. Registered in December 2025, the project covers nearly 197 hectares of land historically used for forestry operations. The region is characterized by high rainfall, averaging between 1250mm and 1500mm annually, and features gradational clay soils derived from Devonian granite, which support productive timber growth.
The project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative, Plantation Forestry) Methodology Determination 2022. Specifically, it involves the "avoided conversion" activity (Schedule 3), where an existing plantation that was at risk of being cleared for non-forested land use (such as grazing or agriculture) is instead maintained as a plantation. By committing to continue the plantation cycle, establishing and maintaining trees for commercial harvest, the project avoids the emissions associated with clearing and decay, while sequestering carbon in the growing trees and long-term wood products.
Landari Pty Ltd, the proponent, is an established forestry and carbon project developer in Tasmania with a history of managing similar projects, including transitions from short-rotation pulpwood to long-rotation sawlogs. The Diddleum area itself is known for its tall open forests dominated by species such as gum-topped stringybark (Eucalyptus delegatensis), making it a prime location for high-value timber production combined with carbon sequestration.
