Project Information:
Landari Jetsonville 2025 is a plantation forestry project located in the rural locality of Jetsonville, approximately 4 kilometers northeast of the major service town of Scottsdale in north-east Tasmania. Registered on January 20, 2026, the project covers 206 hectares of land in a region renowned for its highly productive agricultural and forestry sectors. The surrounding landscape of the Dorset Council area is characterized by a mix of intensive cropping, dairy farming, and timber plantations, supported by a reliable cool-temperate climate.
The project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative, Plantation Forestry) Methodology Determination 2022. It specifically focuses on "avoided conversion," a project activity designed to prevent the clearing of plantation forests for alternative land uses, such as agriculture. By committing to re-establish and maintain the plantation for commercial timber harvesting rather than converting the land to non-forested pasture or cropland, the project generates Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) based on the carbon stored in the trees and long-term wood products.
Environmentally, the Jetsonville and Scottsdale region is distinct for its deep, fertile red volcanic soils, known technically as Ferrosols, as well as Dermosols. These soils are highly prized for vegetable cropping (particularly potatoes), which historically creates strong economic pressure to convert timber plantations into arable farmland. The area benefits from high rainfall, typically receiving between 900mm and 1,000mm annually, creating ideal conditions for rapid tree growth and carbon sequestration. The project proponent, Landari Pty Ltd, is a specialized developer that focuses on integrating carbon finance with traditional commercial forestry operations.
