Wymah Project

Project Information:
The Wymah Project is a plantation forestry project located in the locality of Wymah, New South Wales, approximately 45km east of the major regional centre of Albury-Wodonga. Registered in December 2025, the project covers a total area of roughly 403 hectares. The region is situated on the northern banks of the Murray River and Lake Hume, an area characterized by a mix of cattle grazing and existing forestry operations due to its reliable access to water and favorable growing conditions.
This project operates under the 2022 Plantation Forestry methodology, which involves establishing a new plantation forest on land that has been clear of forest for at least seven years. Unlike environmental plantings which are permanent conservation forests, this methodology allows for the commercial harvesting of wood products, provided the carbon stock is managed and accounted for over time. The project area likely benefits from the region's moderate to high rainfall (averaging 700-800mm annually) and fertile granitic or loamy soils, which are well-suited to timber production.
The project is driven by Freepoint Commodities Australia, a subsidiary of the global commodities merchant, indicating a commercial approach to carbon asset generation potentially linked to global trading desks or offsetting obligations. They are supported by Integrated Carbon Farming (Ai Carbon), a specialized service provider that assists landholders with the technical and compliance aspects of managing carbon projects.
