Plantare Carbon Project 2

Project Information:
Plantare Carbon Project 2 is a plantation forestry project located approximately 30km northwest of Westonia in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. It was registered in March 2026 and covers 365.69 ha.
Plantation forestry projects generate carbon abatement by establishing and maintaining new plantation forests, converting short-rotation plantations to long-rotation forests, or avoiding the transition of plantation land to non-forested land. In this case, the project sequesters carbon through the establishment of a new plantation forest designed for the commercial harvesting of wood products.
The surrounding Westonia area is traditionally known for broadacre dryland agriculture, specifically wheat cropping and sheep grazing. The region is semi-arid with a low average annual rainfall of approximately 331mm. Soils in this part of the Yilgarn Craton generally consist of yellow deep sands, sandy gravels on the uplands, and sandy duplex soils in the valleys.
This project is notable for integrating commercial forestry into a conventionally dry agricultural zone. The project proponent, Plantare Carbon Pty Ltd, specifically focuses on incorporating mixed cropping, pasture, and trees to create productive, future-ready farms across Western Australia.
