Nullwarra Improvement Carbon Project 9

Project Information:

Nullwarra Improvement Carbon Project 9 is a soil carbon sequestration project located approximately 35km south-southwest of Cobar, New South Wales. Registered in December 2025, the project covers a project area of roughly 637 hectares. The site sits within the Cobar Local Government Area, a region synonymous with rangeland grazing and mining operations.

The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon methodology (Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models). This method credits landholders for increasing soil organic carbon levels over time compared to a baseline. To achieve this, the project activities involve applying synthetic or non-synthetic fertilizers to address nutrient deficiencies and modifying grazing practices, specifically altering stocking rates, duration, or intensity. These changes are designed to improve soil vegetation cover and soil health, which drives carbon sequestration.

Environmentally, the Cobar region is classified as semi-arid, typically receiving less than 400mm of rainfall annually. The landscape is part of the Cobar Peneplain, characterized by red earth soils, lithosols, and hard-setting loams that support native vegetation such as mulga, bimble box, and native grasses. The proponent, AgriProve Solutions, is a major service provider in this sector, and the "9" in the project title suggests this property may be part of an aggregated portfolio or a subdivided project series within the Nullwarra aggregation.
