The Anameka Soil Carbon Project
ERF206214
Project Information:
The Anameka Soil Carbon Project is a large-scale agricultural soil carbon project located near Tammin, approximately 180km east of Perth in the Western Australian Wheatbelt. Registered in December 2025, the project covers a substantial 14,373 hectares. The property, known as "Anameka Farms," is situated between the towns of Tammin and Kellerberrin, a region heavily dedicated to broadacre cropping and livestock production.
This project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon methodology, which credits farmers for sequestering carbon in agricultural soils. The specific approach involves a hybrid of physical soil sampling and modelling to estimate carbon stock changes over time. To generate credits, the proponent must introduce new land management activities, such as applying nutrients, establishing permanent pasture on previously cropped land, and retaining stubble, that differ from the historical baseline of the property.
The Tammin region is characterized by a semi-arid Mediterranean climate with an average annual rainfall of approximately 275mm to 325mm. The landscape features a mix of soil types typical of the central Wheatbelt, including sandy loams and clays, which can be prone to constraints such as acidity, compaction, and salinity. The project area supports a mixed farming enterprise producing wheat, barley, canola, and lupins, alongside a self-replacing Merino sheep flock.
Anameka Farms is operated by the York family, who are well-recognized in the region for their high-production cropping operations and use of advanced agricultural machinery. The project is developed in partnership with Intuit Earth Pty Ltd (trading as Carbon Sync), a Western Australian developer focused on regenerative agriculture. The 25-year land management strategy includes mechanical soil amelioration to address subsoil constraints and the use of multi-species cover crops to improve soil function and biodiversity.
