Nullwarra Improvement Carbon Project 1

Project Information:

Nullwarra Improvement Carbon Project 1 is a soil carbon sequestration project located approximately 35 kilometers south-west of Cobar in the Orana region of New South Wales. Registered in November 2025, the project covers a project area of roughly 708 hectares. The site sits within the Cobar Peneplain bioregion, an area historically dominated by rangeland grazing (sheep and cattle) and mining activities, characterized by its distinctive red earth soils and semi-arid landscape.

The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon methodology (Measurement and Models), which credits landholders for storing additional carbon in their soil profile. To achieve this, the project has implemented specific land management activities designed to increase biomass and soil health. These activities include the application of synthetic or non-synthetic fertilizers to address material soil deficiencies and significant alterations to grazing strategies, such as changing stocking rates or intensity, to promote better vegetation cover.

The region typically experiences a semi-arid climate with a highly variable median annual rainfall of approximately 390mm. The local soils are predominantly Red Earths (Kandosols) and Red Loams (Chromosols), which are naturally low in nutrients but responsive to the management changes proposed by the project. The project is managed by Agriprove Solutions, a prominent service provider in the Australian soil carbon sector, and appears to be part of a larger aggregation of projects on the property, as indicated by the registration of subsequent project phases (e.g., Nullwarra Improvement Carbon Project 9) in the same timeframe.
