Fresh Earth Agriculture - Cooksale West Reforestation Project
ERF206148
Project Information:
Fresh Earth Agriculture - Cooksale West Reforestation Project is an environmental planting project located in the Cooksvale and Peelwood area of the Upper Lachlan Shire, approximately 55km north of Crookwell and 99km northwest of Goulburn in New South Wales. It was registered in December 2025 and covers an initial area of 119.24 hectares.
Environmental planting projects involve planting native trees at a density of at least 200 stems per hectare to establish permanent forest cover.
The Cooksvale region is historically known for sheep and cattle farming on undulating to steep timbered hills, alongside productive creek flats. The area is situated in a high rainfall zone (averaging around 760mm annually) and soils are generally granite-derived brown, yellow, and red sandy loams.
This project establishes permanent plantings of a mix of native tree and shrub species that are local to the area. The species mix was specifically chosen to reflect the structure and composition of the local native vegetation community. In May 2026, a variation was approved to add further areas to the project's original planting footprint. The proponent, Cooksvale West Pty Ltd, is linked to Fresh Earth Agriculture, an organization that leverages a digital ecosystem utilizing AI, satellite data, and 3D terrain mapping to support its regenerative farming and carbon initiatives. Interestingly, a neighboring initiative called the Cooksvale East Reforestation Project (ERF201610) operates nearby under a similar vegetation method.
