Landari St Marys 2026

Project Information:

Landari St Marys 2026 is a plantation forestry project located approximately 6km southwest of St Marys in the Break O'Day local government area of north-east Tasmania. It was registered in December 2025 and covers an area of 290.10 hectares.

Plantation forestry projects generate carbon credits by establishing new plantation forests, transitioning short-rotation plantations to long-rotation, or avoiding the conversion of an existing plantation to non-forested land. This specific project sequesters carbon by establishing a new plantation forest and continuing an existing plantation to avoid its conversion to non-forested agricultural land, maintaining it for the commercial harvesting of wood products.

The St Marys region, situated near the Fingal Valley, is known for its mixed agricultural landscape, heavily featuring grass-fed beef cattle farming alongside commercial forestry operations such as radiata pine and nitens plantations. The area has a cool temperate climate with moderate to high rainfall, typically receiving between 800mm and over 1,000mm annually. The local geology features a mix of metamorphosed sandstone, siltstone, and Devonian granites, yielding soils that support strong tree growth, straight form, and excellent wood density.

The project is managed by Landari Pty Ltd, a specialist forestry carbon and biodiversity offset developer based in New South Wales. Landari St Marys 2026 has a nominated permanence period of 25 years, ensuring the carbon stored in the plantation is maintained long-term while contributing to local sustainable timber production.
