Project Information:
AA2025R_DorigoL_S1S3 is a Plantation Forestry project located near Frankford, approximately 30km northwest of Launceston in Tasmania. The project was registered in September 2025 and covers an area of roughly 60 hectares.
The project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative-Plantation Forestry) Methodology Determination 2022. It utilizes two specific schedules of this method: Schedule 1, which involves establishing a new plantation forest on land that has not supported a plantation for at least seven years, and Schedule 3, which involves avoiding the conversion of an existing plantation to non-forested land. This combination suggests the project maintains a commercial timber rotation on land that might otherwise have been cleared for agriculture, while also potentially expanding the plantation area.
The Frankford and West Tamar region is well-suited for forestry, characterized by high annual rainfall (approximately 900mm to 1000mm) and fertile soils, typically Ferrosols (red clay loams) or Dermosols. These conditions support vigorous growth for commercial timber species such as Pinus radiata or Eucalyptus nitens. The project is managed by SFM Environmental Solutions, a prominent Tasmanian forestry manager, on behalf of The Tasmanian Carbon Afforestation Sub-Trust.
