AA2025R_DorigoL_S1S3 is a plantation forestry project located approximately 30km northwest of Launceston in Tasmania. It was registered in September 2025 and covers an area of 59.92 hectares.

Plantation forestry projects operating under the 2022 methodology involve establishing a new plantation forest, converting a short-rotation plantation to a long-rotation plantation, or avoiding the conversion of an existing plantation to non-forested land. To generate Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs), these projects must establish and maintain a viable tree stocking density, sustain continuous forest cover, and manage the trees for the commercial harvesting of wood products.

The region northwest of Launceston is well-known for extensive commercial forestry operations alongside agricultural land uses such as sheep and cattle grazing and cropping. The area experiences a moderate to high rainfall classification, making it highly suitable for timber production. Soils in this region are variable but typically consist of clay loams, podzols, and highly productive ferrosols (red clay soils).

This specific project sequesters carbon through two main activities: establishing a new commercial plantation forest and avoiding the conversion of an existing, recently harvested plantation to non-forested land. It is managed by SFM Environmental Solutions acting as the agent for the project proponent, The Trust Company (Australia) Limited as trustee for The Tasmanian Carbon Afforestation Sub-Trust. SFM operates the "ActivAcre" program across Tasmania, an initiative that partners with landowners to transform underutilised agricultural land into high-integrity carbon and timber-producing assets. By integrating commercial timber species into these landscapes, projects of this nature help provide valuable shelterbelts for livestock, diversify farm income, and drive long-term environmental sustainability.
