Project Information:
Fresh Earth Agriculture - Cooksvale Reforestation Project is an environmental planting project located in the locality of Peelwood, approximately 35 kilometers northwest of Crookwell in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales. The project was registered in June 2025 and covers an area of 119.51 hectares.
The region is traditionally dominated by fine wool and cattle grazing, benefiting from the cool temperate climate and relatively reliable rainfall of the Southern Tablelands (typically 750-850mm annually). The project area sits within a landscape characterized by granite-derived soils, often supporting "Tableland Granites Grassy Box Woodlands," a native vegetation community that this project likely aims to restore.
The project operates under the Reforestation by Environmental or Mallee Plantings-FullCAM 2024 methodology. This involves establishing a permanent mix of native tree and shrub species that are indigenous to the local area. The primary goal is to achieve permanent forest cover with a stocking density sufficient to meet the canopy requirements of the methodology (historically necessitating at least 400 stems per hectare). A variation to the project was noted in October 2025, indicating an expansion of the designated carbon estimation area.
