Cooeeanna Carbon Project 6

ERF203819

Project Information:

Cooeeanna Carbon Project 6 is a soil carbon project located at the Cooeeanna homestead, approximately 9km southwest of the town of Lock on the central Eyre Peninsula, South Australia. Registered in September 2025, the project covers roughly 182 hectares of agricultural land in a region widely recognized as a major grain storage and production hub.

The Lock area is dominated by mixed farming, primarily cereal cropping (wheat and barley) and sheep grazing. The environment is classified as semi-arid with a Mediterranean influence, typically receiving between 300mm and 400mm of rainfall annually. The soils in this district are distinctively calcareous and sandy, often featuring shallow profiles with significant limestone content. This rocky terrain requires careful management, and the property is known for employing specific stone-rowing techniques to handle the high volume of surface limestone.

Operating under the 2021 Soil Carbon methodology, the project aims to sequester carbon by modifying land management practices, specifically by applying synthetic or non-synthetic fertilizers to address material nutrient deficiencies. By optimizing soil nutrition, the project seeks to boost plant productivity and, consequently, soil organic carbon levels. The project is part of a larger aggregation of carbon activities on the property, which includes multiple project sequences (e.g., Project 6, Project 9) managed by proponent Agriprove.
