Landari FTT Ponds Arnals
ERF202753
Project Information:
Landari FTT Ponds Arnals is a plantation forestry project located in the West Wimmera region of Victoria, approximately 60km northeast of Mount Gambier. It was registered in June 2025 and originally covered 144.52 hectares, with additional areas added via a project area variation in May 2026.
Plantation forestry projects sequester carbon by establishing and maintaining a new plantation forest. Under the methodology, these projects must involve planting tree species capable of reaching forest height and must be actively managed for the ongoing commercial harvesting of wood products.
The West Wimmera area, forming part of the broader Green Triangle, is historically known for its extensive commercial softwood and blue gum forestry operations, as well as broadacre cropping and sheep grazing. The project area is situated in a temperate zone with moderate to high winter-dominant rainfall. The region's soils are typically texture contrast soils featuring sandy loams over heavy clay subsoils, alongside sodic clays in local swale systems.
This project is operated by the proponent Fairthorne Timber Trading Pty Ltd, an enterprise that has been supported by federal forestry grants to establish new commercial softwood plantations in Victoria. It was developed in partnership with agent Arjan Wilkie of Landari, an Australian consultancy that specialises in spatial analysis and domestic carbon and biodiversity offset projects.
