Project Information:
The Palgrove Land Holdings Trust Soil Carbon Project is a soil carbon sequestration project located at 'Macintyre Station', approximately 35km north of the township of Inverell in northern New South Wales. Registered in August 2025, the project encompasses 2,296 hectares of grazing land within the Bukkulla locality.
The surrounding region is a premier agricultural hub known for cattle grazing and mixed farming operations. The project area, Macintyre Station, serves as a critical base for the proponent, Palgrove, a renowned Australian seedstock producer. The property is specifically utilized for their Ultrablack and Angus breeding programs, as well as bull development. The local environment is productive, characterized by a mean annual rainfall of approximately 813mm. The landscape features a diverse soil profile, ranging from semi-alluvial basalts and black/red clays to loamy granites with traprock influences, providing a strong foundation for pasture growth.
Operating under the 2021 Soil Carbon methodology, this project generates Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) by measuring increases in Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) over time. The primary management activity involves the targeted application of synthetic or non-synthetic fertilizers to rectify material nutrient deficiencies in the soil. By addressing these limiting factors, likely utilizing the precision agronomy services of participant Precision Pastures, the project aims to boost pasture biomass and root production, which in turn accelerates the sequestration of carbon into the soil.
