Williams Carbon Project 3

ERF200596

Project Information:

Williams Carbon Project 3 is a soil carbon sequestration project located approximately 26km southeast of Coonabarabran, near the town of Binnaway in the Warrumbungle Shire of New South Wales. Registered in March 2025, the project covers nearly 140 hectares of agricultural land in the Central West Slopes and Plains region.

The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon methodology, which rewards landholders for increasing Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) stocks. The process involves measuring baseline carbon levels, implementing new management activities, such as applying nutrients to correct deficiencies, re-establishing pastures, and altering grazing intensity, and then re-measuring soil carbon stocks over time to calculate the net increase. These credits (ACCUs) are issued based on the measured sequestration minus any project emissions.

The Warrumbungle region is characterized by a temperate to semi-arid climate with an average annual rainfall of approximately 600mm-650mm. The local landscape supports a mix of grazing and cropping, typically on red earth, loam, or clay soils (Chromosols and Vertosols), which are common in the area and responsive to the pasture improvement activities proposed by the project.

This project is facilitated by AgriProve, a major soil carbon project developer in Australia. The existence of a "Williams Carbon Project 1" and "3" in the same registry sequence suggests this property may be part of a larger aggregation or a segmented farm portfolio designed to optimize carbon baselining and credit issuance.
