Williams Carbon Project 2

Project Information:
Williams Carbon Project 2 is a soil carbon project located in the Central West region of New South Wales, approximately 35km south of Coonabarabran and northeast of Gilgandra. The project was registered in March 2025 and covers a project area of 267.41 hectares.
The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon methodology, which credits measured increases in soil organic carbon stocks. To achieve this, the project involves a combination of land management activities including the application of nutrients (synthetic or non-synthetic fertilizers) to address deficiencies, applying lime to remediate acid soils, and re-establishing pastures through seeding. Additionally, the project alters grazing stocking rates and duration to improve soil vegetation cover and overall soil health.
The surrounding region in the Warrumbungle Shire is characterized by a mix of grazing and cropping land use. The area typically receives an annual rainfall of approximately 600mm–700mm, classifying it as a temperate to semi-arid zone. The soil landscape in this district often consists of red earth, loams, and cracking clays, which these management activities aim to improve for better carbon sequestration.
