Emerson Carbon Project

Project Information:
Emerson Carbon Project is a soil carbon project located approximately 9km northwest of Bundaberg in Queensland. It was registered in March 2026 and covers 185.87 ha.
Projects operating under the Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models (2021) methodology involve implementing new or materially different agricultural management practices to build and store carbon in the soil. The amount of carbon sequestered is calculated through rigorous baseline and subsequent soil sampling, which can be supplemented by modelling.
The Bundaberg region is renowned for its intensive agricultural production, predominantly sugar cane farming, as well as horticulture (such as macadamias) and cattle grazing. The area experiences a subtropical climate with moderate to high summer-dominant rainfall. The local soils are highly productive and diverse, generally consisting of red volcanic loams (ferrosols), river alluvials, and sandy loams.
This project increases carbon in the soil by applying synthetic or non-synthetic fertilisers to address material deficiencies, and converting from intensive tillage to reduced or no-tillage practices. It also utilizes cover crops to promote soil vegetation cover and improve soil health, alongside integrating legume species into the property's cropping or pasture systems.
The proponent, Agriprove Solutions Co No.2 Pty Ltd, is a subsidiary of Agriprove Pty Ltd, which is currently recognized as Australia's largest developer of soil carbon projects.
