Pallal Carbon Project 3

Project Information:
Pallal Carbon Project 3 is a soil carbon project located in the rural locality of Pallal, approximately 40 kilometers west of Bingara in the Gwydir Shire of New South Wales. Registered in April 2025, the project covers a targeted area of 59.15 hectares. The proponent, Agriprove Solutions Co No.2 Pty Ltd, is a subsidiary of Agriprove, a prominent developer in the Australian soil carbon market known for managing a large portfolio of similar projects.
The project operates under the Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models methodology. This framework allows landholders to earn Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) by increasing the stock of carbon stored in their soil. The process involves establishing a baseline through physical soil coring, implementing new land management activities to boost soil health, and then re-measuring the soil years later to quantify the sequestered carbon.
Situated in the North West Slopes and Plains region, the area is traditionally used for mixed farming, including sheep and cattle grazing as well as dryland cropping. The environment is characterized by a warm temperate climate with summer-dominant rainfall, averaging approximately 735mm annually at the nearby Bingara weather station. The region's soils often include Vertosols (cracking clays) and Chromosols. The project's specific inclusion of gypsum and lime application indicates the presence of sodic or acidic soil constraints, which can limit pasture growth. By addressing these chemical deficiencies and optimizing grazing intensity, the project aims to increase biomass production, thereby driving higher rates of carbon sequestration into the soil profile.
