Tanner Carbon Project 1
ERF199791
Project Information:
Tanner Carbon Project 1 is a soil carbon sequestration project located in the South Burnett region of Queensland, approximately 40km southwest of the major town of Kingaroy. Registered on December 23, 2024, the project covers an area of roughly 140 hectares. The project is situated near the transition between the fertile "red soil plateau" and the western granite belt, a region heavily utilized for mixed farming, including peanut and maize cropping as well as cattle grazing.
The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon methodology, which credits landholders for measurable increases in soil organic carbon stocks. To achieve this, the project has committed to a suite of regenerative activities designed to boost soil health. These include converting from intensive tillage to reduced or no-till practices, retaining crop stubble to build organic matter, and rejuvenating pastures through seeding. Additionally, the project employs planned grazing strategies, altering stocking rates and duration to promote vegetation cover.
The South Burnett environment is characterized by a sub-tropical climate with summer-dominant rainfall, averaging between 650mm and 750mm annually. The soils in this specific locality are likely a mix of the region's renowned red ferrosols (deeply weathered basalt) and lighter granitic loams, both of which respond well to increased organic matter for moisture retention. The project is managed by Agriprove, a prominent developer specializing in Australian soil carbon projects.
