PLPC Taydel Carbon Project 1

Project Information:

PLPC Taydel Carbon Project 1 is a plantation forestry project located approximately 15 kilometers southwest of the major port city of Burnie, in North West Tasmania. The project area spans 27.32 hectares near the rural locality of Ridgley, a region deeply integrated with Tasmania's forestry and agricultural sectors. Registered in June 2025, the project is operated by The Persistent Little Property Company Pty Ltd, a proponent based in Queensland but managing forestry assets in Tasmania.

The project operates under the 2022 Plantation Forestry methodology, specifically utilizing the "conversion from short-rotation to long-rotation" activity. This involves transitioning a plantation, typically grown for short-term pulpwood production (harvested every 10-15 years), into a long-term sawlog regime. By extending the rotation period, thinning the trees, and pruning them for high-quality timber, the project allows the trees to grow larger and store significantly more carbon over their lifespan than they would if harvested frequently for woodchips.

The Ridgley and Hampshire district is renowned for its productive environmental conditions, characterized by high annual rainfall averaging roughly 1,400mm. The landscape is dominated by Ferrosols (also known as Krasnozems), which are deep, fertile, red basalt soils ideal for vigorous tree growth and intensive agriculture. These conditions ensure rapid carbon sequestration rates for the project's plantation assets. Public records indicate that independent qualified persons have submitted supporting statements verifying the project's compliance with the Emissions Reduction Fund's rigorous standards.
