AA2025R_BowdenL_S3 is a Plantation Forestry project located in the Southern Midlands local government area of Tasmania, near the historic town of Oatlands and approximately 85km north of Hobart. It was registered in February 2025 and originally covered an area of 456 hectares.

Plantation forestry projects that focus on avoided conversion involve preventing an existing or recently harvested plantation forest from being cleared and converted into non-forested land, such as agricultural pasture. This methodology requires proponents to continue operating the land as a commercial plantation. Standard requirements include maintaining appropriate commercial tree stocking densities and managing the forest for ongoing growth and eventual sustainable harvesting of wood products.

The Southern Midlands area of Tasmania is well known for its deep agricultural roots, particularly sheep grazing, cropping, and commercial forestry operations. The region generally experiences a lower, cool-temperate rainfall compared to the rest of the state, often averaging between 400mm and 600mm annually. Local soil types are varied but typically consist of duplex soils, including sandy loams and light clays derived from dolerite and sandstone.

An interesting note about this project is that on 27 July 2026, a variation was officially made to the project boundary, and certain areas originally listed in the project were removed. The project sequesters carbon by keeping the forest intact, and involves SFM Environmental Solutions Pty Ltd acting as a participant and agent on behalf of the project proponent, The Trust Company (Australia) Limited, acting as trustee for The Tasmanian Carbon Afforestation Sub-Trust.
