Elvanbrook and Dalkeith NFMR Project

Project Information:

Elvanbrook and Dalkeith NFMR Project is a Native Forest from Managed Regrowth project located on a property historically known as Elvanbrook, approximately 75km northeast of St George in the Maranoa/Balonne region of Queensland. It was registered in March 2024 and initially covered an area of 10,124.03 hectares.

Native Forest from Managed Regrowth (NFMR) methodology involves establishing permanent native forests by ceasing activities that suppress regrowth, such as the mechanical or chemical destruction of native vegetation or overgrazing. To generate Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs), the project activities involve ceasing the suppression of regrowth and allowing the area to reach forest cover (defined as at least 20% crown cover and a height of at least 2 metres), regenerating from in-situ seed sources like rootstock and lignotubers on land that was previously subjected to comprehensive clearing for pastoral use.

The St George and broader Maranoa region is predominantly used for sheep farming, beef cattle grazing, and some broadacre cropping. The area is characterised by a semi-arid climate, typically receiving between 500-600mm of annual rainfall, and the soils are largely a mix of cracking clays (vertosols), red earths (kandosols), and dermosols.

An interesting note about this project is that its proponent, Terra Carbon Pty Limited, operates as a subsidiary of GreenCollar, which is one of Australia's largest and most prominent environmental market developers. Additionally, in May 2026, a variation was made to the project to remove certain areas from the originally registered footprint. The project property itself, Elvanbrook, has historically operated as a commercial grazing cattle station.
