Beddall Carbon Project 9

Project Information:

Beddall Carbon Project 9 is a soil carbon sequestration project located approximately 25km southwest of Moura in the Banana Shire region of Central Queensland. Registered on September 16, 2025, the project covers a land area of roughly 325 hectares. The site is situated within the productive Brigalow Belt, a region heavily utilised for beef cattle grazing and dryland cropping.

The project operates under the Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models Methodology Determination 2021. This high-integrity methodology requires the proponent to establish a baseline of soil carbon stocks through physical testing, followed by the implementation of new land management activities designed to increase those stocks. Over time, the project will earn Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) by measuring or modelling the incremental increase in soil carbon. Specific activities for this project include altering grazing intensity and duration to improve ground cover, as well as introducing legume species into pasture systems to enhance nitrogen fixation and soil health.

The environment in the Banana Shire is characterised by a sub-tropical to semi-arid climate, typically receiving between 600mm and 800mm of rainfall annually, mostly during the summer months. The region is known for its fertile soil types, predominantly Vertosols (cracking clay soils), which possess high water-holding capacity and inherent fertility, making them well-suited for soil carbon projects.

This project is managed by Agriprove Solutions, a prominent developer in the Australian soil carbon sector. The numeric designation "9" in the project title, alongside the existence of other registered projects such as "Beddall Carbon Project 5," suggests this is part of a larger aggregation of projects on a single property or a cluster of related properties, allowing for more granular management of carbon estimation areas.
