Beddall Carbon Project 4
ERF188202
Project Information:
Beddall Carbon Project 4 is a soil carbon sequestration project located approximately 25 kilometers southwest of Moura in the Banana Shire, Queensland. Registered in September 2025, the project covers 376.75 hectares of agricultural land. The property is situated within the Brigalow Belt, a region traditionally characterized by cattle grazing and dryland cropping.
The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon Methodology (Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models). This methodology requires the proponent to demonstrate an increase in soil carbon stocks over time compared to a baseline. To achieve this, the project involves altering the stocking rate, duration, or intensity of grazing to promote vegetation cover and utilizing legume species in pasture systems. These activities are designed to increase biomass and soil organic matter, thereby generating Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs).
Environmentally, the Moura region is classified as semi-arid to sub-tropical with a summer-dominant rainfall pattern, averaging between 600mm and 700mm annually. The soils in this vicinity are typically Vertosols (cracking clays) or texture-contrast soils, which are common in the Dawson River valley and high-value grazing lands of Central Queensland. These soil types generally have high fertility and water-holding capacity, making them well-suited for soil carbon projects if management practices can effectively mitigate moisture deficits.
An interesting aspect of this project is its designation as "Project 4," and the existence of a concurrent "Beddall Carbon Project 5," suggesting the landholder has segmented their property or aggregation into multiple project areas. This strategy is often used to manage permanence periods or audit requirements across different land titles. The project is managed by Agriprove, a leading Australian soil carbon developer known for its "SPV" (Special Purpose Vehicle) model and no-upfront-cost approach to baselining.
