Carrick Carbon Project 3

Project Information:
Carrick Carbon Project 3 is a soil organic carbon project located in the locality of Tingoora, approximately 20 kilometers north of Kingaroy in the South Burnett region of Queensland. Registered on July 11, 2025, the project covers 243.53 hectares of agricultural land. The surrounding South Burnett region is a renowned agricultural hub, traditionally known for peanut cultivation, navy beans, and mixed grazing and cropping operations.
This project operates under the Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models Methodology Determination 2021. This high-integrity methodology requires the proponent to demonstrate an increase in soil carbon stocks over time compared to a baseline. To achieve this, the project employs activities such as altering stocking rates to improve vegetation cover and rejuvenating pastures through seeding. Unlike vegetation methods that rely on visual canopy growth, soil carbon projects require rigorous physical soil sampling and modelling to quantify the carbon sequestered below ground.
Environmentally, the site is situated in a sub-tropical climatic zone characterized by warm summers and mild winters, with a summer-dominant rainfall averaging around 780mm annually. The region is famous for its fertile "red earth" (krasnozems or ferrosols) and black cracking clays (vertosols), both of which are highly responsive to improved management practices and conducive to carbon storage. The designation "Project 3" suggests this may be part of a larger aggregation or a segmented property registration, a common strategy used by the proponent, AgriProve, to manage baselining logistics and optimize crediting periods.
