Ryan Carbon Project 2

Project Information:

Ryan Carbon Project 2 is a soil carbon project located near Bundarra, approximately 60km north-west of Armidale in the New England region of New South Wales. It was registered in March 2023 and covers 303.35ha.

Estimation of soil organic carbon sequestration projects involve building and retaining carbon levels in agricultural soils. A standard requirement of the methodology is implementing at least one new eligible land management activity. For this specific project, the activity involves applying nutrients to the land in the form of a synthetic or non-synthetic fertiliser to address a material soil deficiency.

The surrounding New England area is well known for highly productive agriculture, heavily focused on specialised beef cattle farming and sheep grazing. The region generally experiences a dry sub-humid temperate climate with a median annual rainfall of around 760mm, and the landscape is characterised by highly fertile basalt soils.

Managed in partnership with the proponent AgriProve, this project forms part of a broader network of carbon initiatives in the region designed to improve agricultural systems. Early indications from similar baseline projects in the "Ryan Carbon" series have demonstrated significant agricultural co-benefits, with landholders reporting up to a 25% increase in livestock stocking capacity due to enhanced soil health and robust pasture growth.
