Adermann Carbon Project 3

Project Information:

Adermann Carbon Project 3 is a soil carbon sequestration project located approximately 5km northeast of the town of Bordertown in the Tatiara district of South Australia. Registered in January 2024, the project covers a project area of 241 hectares. The site is situated within the Limestone Coast region, an area historically referred to as the "Tatiara" (Aboriginal for "Good Country"), which is renowned for its productive mixed farming, including broadacre cropping and livestock grazing.

The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon (Measurement and Models) methodology, which credits increases in soil organic carbon stocks resulting from changes in land management. Specifically, this project aims to sequester carbon by addressing nutrient deficiencies through the application of synthetic or non-synthetic fertilizers and by retaining stubble after crop harvesting. These activities are designed to improve plant growth and soil health, thereby increasing the amount of carbon stored in the soil profile over time.

Environmental conditions in the Bordertown region typically feature a semi-arid to Mediterranean climate with an average annual rainfall of approximately 460mm. The local soil profiles often consist of texture-contrast soils, characterized by sandy loam topsoils overlying clay subsoils (often classified regionally as Group G soils), which are widely utilized for cereal cropping and pasture. The project is facilitated by AgriProve Solutions, a prominent soil carbon project developer, and appears to be part of a larger aggregation of projects, with an "Adermann Carbon Project 1" also appearing on the Clean Energy Regulator’s register.
