Argyle Beef Herd Management Project (Revoked)

ERF169322

Project Information:

Argyle Beef Herd Management Project is a beef cattle herd management project located just south of Goulburn in the Southern Tablelands region of New South Wales. It was registered in March 2022 and covers an unknown area.

Beef cattle herd management projects reduce the emissions intensity of beef cattle production by adopting specific practices. This methodology involves modifying the herd structure, such as changing the ratio of livestock classes to increase total annual liveweight gain, reducing the average age of the herd, and culling unproductive animals. These measures effectively reduce the volume of cattle emissions produced per kilogram of liveweight beef.

The Goulburn and Southern Tablelands area is widely known for extensive sheep and cattle grazing operations. The region receives moderate rainfall, typically averaging around 665mm annually, and the soils generally consist of solodic and podzolic types (texture-contrast soils) that support the region's pastoral activities.

Interestingly, this carbon project, originally managed by Argyle Foods Pastoral Pty Ltd, was officially revoked on March 10, 2026, under section 30 of the Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI) Rule. This revocation follows the proponent company undergoing court liquidation and being wound up in late 2025.
