Courtice Carbon Project 8

Project Information:
Courtice Carbon Project 8 is a soil carbon sequestration project located in the Tatiara District of South Australia, approximately 65km north of Bordertown and 40km south of Pinnaroo. Registered in November 2021, the project covers 223 hectares near the border of Victoria and the Ngarkat Conservation Park.
The project operates under the 2018 Soil Carbon methodology, which rewards landholders for measured increases in soil organic carbon (SOC). The specific activities undertaken on this property include applying synthetic or non-synthetic nutrients to address soil deficiencies, re-establishing pastures through seeding, and modifying grazing intensity or duration. These actions are designed to boost plant growth and root biomass, thereby increasing the amount of carbon stored in the soil profile.
The surrounding Upper South East and Murray Mallee region is characterized by a semi-arid climate with annual rainfall typically between 350mm and 450mm. The landscape generally features sandy soils or sandy loams over clay (duplex soils), which are common in the Mallee. Land use in the area is predominantly mixed farming, combining cropping (cereals, pulses) with livestock grazing (sheep and cattle). The project is managed by AgriProve Solutions, a prominent developer in the Australian soil carbon market.
