Davidson Carbon Project 4
ERF168021
Project Information:
Davidson Carbon Project 4 is a soil carbon sequestration project located in the Upper South East region of South Australia, approximately 55km south of Pinnaroo and immediately adjacent to the Victorian border. Registered in February 2022, the project covers 416 hectares of agricultural land. The region is historically characterized by mixed farming, including dryland cropping and livestock grazing, often operating on sandy loam soils typical of the Mallee landscape.
The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon methodology (Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models). This method credits landholders for increasing soil organic carbon levels through improved land management practices. Unlike tree planting projects which are clearly visible, soil carbon projects focus on what lies beneath the surface. To earn Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs), the project must demonstrate a measurable increase in soil carbon stocks over time compared to a baseline, verified through soil sampling and modelling.
Specific activities undertaken on this property include re-establishing or rejuvenating pastures, applying synthetic or non-synthetic fertilizers to address nutrient deficiencies, and altering grazing intensity. These actions are designed to boost plant growth and root mass, which in turn draws more carbon from the atmosphere into the soil. The project is managed by Agriprove Solutions, a prominent developer in the Australian soil carbon sector known for managing a large portfolio of similar projects.
