Frazer Carbon Project

Project Information:
Frazer Carbon Project is a soil carbon project located approximately 10km south-east of Wynyard in the Waratah-Wynyard Council region of north-west Tasmania. It was registered in October 2020 and covers an area of 41.68 hectares.
Measurement of Soil Carbon Sequestration in Agricultural Systems projects involve implementing new or materially different agricultural management practices to increase the amount of carbon stored as organic matter in the soil. Baseline measurements of the soil are taken, and subsequent increases in soil carbon over time are credited. This specific project achieves sequestration by actively re-establishing and rejuvenating existing agricultural pastures through seeding.
The north-west coast of Tasmania is a productive agricultural hub known for its high-rainfall climate and highly fertile, deep basalt soils (often referred to as ferrosols or krasnozems). Thanks to these prime environmental conditions, the regional land use is heavily dominated by intensive dairy farming, beef cattle grazing, and forestry operations.
This initiative is managed by Agriprove Solutions Pty Ltd, a major project developer specialising in the Australian soil carbon market. The pasture rejuvenation approach used here aligns with Agriprove’s common agricultural model of planting multi-species pastures to improve overall soil health, stimulate root biomass, and maximise carbon drawdown for landholders.
