Landari PPPA 1

Landari PPPA 1 is a Plantation Forestry project located in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales, with land parcels distributed roughly 45km south of Bathurst and 50km east of Mudgee. It was registered in January 2020 and covers a project area of 741.57 hectares.

Plantation forestry projects involve establishing new plantation forests or managing existing plantations to store carbon. This specific project establishes and maintains a new plantation forest dedicated to the commercial harvesting of wood products. Standard requirements dictate that these projects must adhere to rigorous commercial forestry management practices and demonstrate sustained carbon sequestration in both the forest biomass and the resulting harvested wood products.

The Bathurst and Mudgee surrounding regions are heavily utilized for a mix of grazing (predominantly sheep and beef cattle), cropping, and significant commercial forestry operations, particularly pine plantations. This environment provides excellent growing conditions for timber, characterized by moderate to high regional rainfall. The soils across these varying topographies are diverse, typically featuring a mix of podzols, red and yellow earths, and localized patches of basalt and clay loams.

This project has undergone several operational updates since its inception. Originally registered by Landari Pty Ltd under the 2017 iteration of the methodology, the project expanded its area in February 2022 following a restructure under Section 57 of the CFI Act. In February 2023, the project's proponent officially changed to Group Energy Pty Ltd, who operate it alongside other participants including The Carbon Farming Foundation Ltd. Finally, in December 2023, the project was varied to transition to the updated Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative-Plantation Forestry) Methodology Determination 2022.
