Landari PPPA 1
ERF143035
Project Information:
Landari PPPA 1 is a commercial plantation forestry project located in the Central Tablelands region of New South Wales. The project area spans approximately 741 hectares and appears to be an aggregation of properties split between the Oberon Council and Mid-Western Regional Council areas. The southern portion of the project is situated roughly 25km southwest of Oberon, while the northern portion lies near Rylstone, approximately 55km north of Bathurst.
Registered in January 2020, this project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative, Plantation Forestry) Methodology Determination 2022. Specifically, it involves the establishment of a new plantation forest (Schedule 1), converting land that has not held forest for at least seven years into a commercial timber plantation. Unlike environmental plantings which are strictly for conservation, this methodology allows for the commercial harvesting of wood products, generating carbon credits for the long-term average carbon stocks stored in the trees and wood products.
The Central Tablelands region is a premier forestry and grazing hub, characterized by a cool temperate climate and reliable rainfall, particularly around Oberon (often exceeding 800mm annually). The landscape typically features acidic soils derived from granite and basalt, which are highly suitable for radiata pine and other plantation species. The project has undergone significant administrative updates, including a transition from the 2017 to the 2022 version of the methodology, and a proponent change from Landari Pty Ltd to Group Energy Pty Ltd in early 2023. The project is also supported by The Carbon Farming Foundation, a well-known service provider in the sector.
